When you’re caring for your relative, it’s important to establish a routine. Your loved one needs to be able to rely on you throughout the day, and there are certain things they need.

A typical day of caring for a relative might include getting them ready for the day ahead, including washing, dressing and grooming them. This will then be followed by breakfast, some socialising time, errands, lunch, dinner and further socialising. When you have a routine in place, days flow a lot easier for you and your loved one, but of course your routine can be flexible.

Some care homes have many activities running throughout the day, and it’s important to make note of the times so your loved one doesn’t miss out. Be sure to build your routine around the day-to-day activities in the care home.
