When you move to a retirement residence, you’re going to be living a completely different life. Most retirement homes have an apartment style rooms and a range of communal areas, so there’s a lot of socialising, but of course you get a certain degree of privacy too.

You do have to make some adjustments though, and you will need to learn to live with different types of people. You may not get on with each and every person, but you do have to be able to tolerate each other and respect each other. There are plenty of benefits of living in a residential care home, and many will provide transports, classes, meals and money management.

No matter what people say, retirement residences are not necessarily boring, there’s plenty of activities to get involved in, and it’s 10 times better than sitting at home alone with a newspaper for company.
