Sometimes there’s no better place than a care home for a mother, father or grandparent. In a nursing home, you’re often guaranteed skilled nurses, care facilities and the clean accommodation. That said, not every care home is up to scratch, and it’s important that you and your parent/grandparent visit various care homes before you decide on the one that’s right for your family member. You should look to find out the following:

  1. Are there transportation services?
  2. How are health issues managed?
  3. How much will it cost?
  4. How much privacy are residents guaranteed?
  5. What are the meal option?

These are just some of the questions you’ll want to ask, but you will tend to get a feel for the place when you visit it. It’s always good to meet the residents too, as well as the staff, and we’d never recommend choosing a care home without several visits first.
