Any criminal record, including reprimands and warnings will need to be declared and checked and we shall require at least two references.

We pay our Plymouth domiciliary carers and support workers £7.92 per hour inclusive of mileage, in Devon the rate is £7.30 per hour plus 30 p per mile. Our Extra Care staff receive £7.41 per hour. All weekend rates are enhanced. We provide free uniform and make a monthly contribution to your mobile phone costs. CRB checks and Training is provided free of charge, subject to 3 months satisfactory service.

Carer/Support Worker Job Description

Main Responsibilities

  • To provide personal care and support for Service Users in their own homes.
  • To provide agreed services to Service Users in their own homes.
  • To supply the help agreed in the written Care Plan for the Service User as supplied by Caretime Services or by Social Services and endorsed by Caretime Services.

Main Tasks  

In order to complete the main responsibilities, the following tasks will need to be completed.

  • Working to the time requirements of the weekly Service User Visit Schedule as agreed and supplied by the Care Manager.
  • Working competently and sensitively within the agreed written Care/Support Plan.
  • Maintaining integrity, confidentiality and respect for the Service User at all times.
  • Working to the needs of the Carers Charter and the Code of Conduct, supplied as part of the Induction process. Acting within the guidelines of the UKHCA Code of Practice and the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
  • Effectively communicating with the Care Manager any potential or existing problems with the schedule, the Service User Care/Support Plan and matters affecting the general health, welfare and safety of Carer/Support Worker, Service User, Caretime Services or any other parties.
  • Accurate recordings of services provided, any financial transactions and the condition of the Service User on each occasion, in the Record of Care Provision.

The list of Care/Support Plan tasks may include one, many, any or all of the following.

The Provision of Personal Care e.g.

  • Help with getting up and going to bed
  • Assistance with toileting and personal hygiene
  • Assistance with dressing and undressing
  • Assistance with feeding
  • Help in emergencies
  • Monitoring and prompting medication

Provision of Domestic Help e.g.

  • Preparing and serving meals
  • General housework and cleaning
  • Management of laundry
  • Shopping and collection of pensions

Provision of Companionship and Escort e.g.

  • Providing company and escort
  • Visits outside of the home
  • Meeting appointments
  • Monitoring general health, welfare and safety
